Paul Campbell began his Codelocks journey in September 2023 and wields over 30 years’ of expertise in architectural ironmongery. His main focus is improving and developing the technical, quality and sustainability side of business, aside from focusing on his main passion, Rugby League.
I’ve been part of the Architectural Ironmongery sector for over 30 years. I have previously held multiple roles in the industry from Internal Sales, Contract Management, Supply Chain Leader, National Operations Support, Product Development Co-Ordinator, Technical Manager and Sustainability Lead, guiding me to my current role as Technical, Quality and Sustainability Manager at Codelocks. Over my career I’ve gained lots of wide and varied experiences, with the last 15 years or so being invited to join committees and initiatives within the door hardware sector and working extensively with overseas partners on ethical practices.
Codelocks recognises the importance of protecting the environment and delivering a realistic approach towards potential Net Zero. Which is where I come in. My focus is on helping to influence initiatives that will positively reduce the overall carbon footprint across the business and deliver guidance on our strategy, to make sure this is achieved.
The current market at the moment is divulging fast with new areas coming to light. These changes in the market have given me the opportunity to share my passion for sustainability, quality, improved manufacturing efficiencies, and progress. I’m excited to bring my experience to the mix and assist in making a positive impact across Codelocks’ supply chain, whilst elevating the company and our partners towards even greater success. I see my role as encompassing a never-ending project, with numerous exciting new sub projects at every interval.
A big part of success for me is enabling others around me through support and training. I particularly enjoy being part of my colleagues journey to success through coaching and witnessing, it is something that drives me. Over the years I’ve seen colleagues flourish and grow under my mentorship.
The position I’ve taken allows me to delve into the technical and quality side of business. At the moment I’m looking into ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. I’m proud to be part of this adapting market and to be able to do it with a team that has so much drive.
I’ve seen lots of changes over the years. However, it’s more important than ever for companies to minimise their environmental impact and take on more sustainable practices. Some areas of the industry will forever be changing such as terms of quality control, product testing, and development. My position allows me to be influence, guide, and introduce to initiatives that positively affect the impact of business against the three core areas of sustainability, Economic, Social and Environmental.
Additionally, through my approach, I’m able to look at the whole business in a more holistic way which helps to understand faster routes to product testing methods and requirements. As well as evaluating the current challenges that confront the business. My diverse skills have given me the experience in areas relating to accreditation for both products and services, as well as 1st and 2nd party auditing. This multifaceted background equips me with skills to proactively address and overcome obstacles inherent in my role. This enables me to navigate through complex problems with a strategic mindset.
I’m a bit of a sports fan, when I’m not cycling, walking, or swimming, I’m watching live sport. Mostly, I’m watching Netball, ProWrestling and my favourite Rugby League. You’ll find me cheering passionately for the Salford Red Devils. And if you’re up for it, I’m always game to chat about rugby league!
