Counting the cost of the new £1 coin

In a bid to reduce the number of fake coins in circulation, the Royal Mint is introducing a new 12-sided, bi-metallic, bi-colour  £1 coin in 2017 that will incorporate the new anti-counterfeiting technology. The new coin will come at a considerable cost to operators using coin-operated lockers in their facilities. Most will have to upgrade or replace their coin-operated equipment.
